About

An independently organized TEDx event, by SMACK alumni, for the next generation.

TEDx SMACK Youth is a youth-focused, TED-licensed event organized by alumni of St. Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK). We exist to give young Ugandans a stage for ideas worth spreading, in entrepreneurship, technology, health, media, and community leadership.

Our Story

Our first edition, Duc in Altum (“Launch Into The Deep”), took place on 28 February 2026 at the National Theatre in Kampala. Drawn from SMACK’s own college motto, it was built as a call to action for a generation of young Ugandans standing at the threshold of their first real leaps in life. Thirteen speakers took the stage across entrepreneurship, technology, health, media, and community leadership, drawing 115 attendees and more than 2,900 YouTube views in the months since.
2027 scales that vision further, with a target of 300+ attendees, wider school and institutional outreach, and new immersive features including interactive spaces and structured networking panels.
2027 Theme

Beyond the Blueprint

The 2027 theme is about the moment a person breaks from the path that was expected of them, whether inherited, drawn by others, or even self-drawn, and steps into something greater.
